கனடிய தமிழர்களால் கல்முனை ஆதார வைத்தியசாலைக்கு உயிர்காக்கும் மருந்துகள் அன்பளிப்பு!
கனடியத் தமிழர்கள் 7 மில்லியன் ரூபா பெறுமதியான உயிர்காக்கும் மருந்துகளை அம்பாறை மாவட்டத்தின் கல்முனை ஆதார வைத்தியசாலைக்கு நன்கொடையாக வழங்கியுள்ளனர்.
கடந்த ஆண்டு கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவையினால் (Canadian Tamil Congress – CTC) ஒழுங்கு செய்யப்பட்ட நிதிசேர் நடையூடாக திரட்டப்பட்ட நிதியின் இரண்டாவது நன்கொடை இதுவாகும், கடந்த ஆண்டு முதலாவது நன்கொடைத் தொகுதி தெல்லிப்பளை ஆதார வைத்தியசாலையிடம் கையளிக்கப்பட்டது. கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவை தமது வருடாந்த நிதிசேர் நன்கொடையூடாக வருடந்தோறும் பல்வேறு தொண்டு நிறுவனங்களுக்கு நன்கொடைகளை வழங்கி வருகின்றது.
இலங்கையின் மோசமான பொருளாதாரச் சரிவால் உயிர் காக்கும் மருந்துகளின் பற்றாக்குறையை நாட்டில் உள்ள அனைத்து மருத்துவமனைகளும் அதிகளவில் எதிர்கொண்டு வருகின்றன. இந்தச் சூழலைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு மனிதநேய அடிப்படையில் 2022 ஆம் ஆண்டு கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவையினரால் பதினான்காவது வருடாந்த தமிழ்க் கனடிய நிதிசேர் நடைபயணம் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு, அதில் திரட்டப்படும் நன்கொடை மூலம் இலங்கையில் வடக்கு, கிழக்கு, மத்தி மற்றும் தெற்கு ஆகிய நான்கு பிராந்தியங்களில் உள்ள ஆறு மருத்துவமனைகளுக்கு உயிர் காக்கும் மருந்துப் பொருட்கள் வழங்குவதெனத் திட்டமிடப்பட்டது.
இந்த நன்கொடையின் மூன்றாம் கட்டமாக கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவையால் ஒழுங்கமைக்கப்பட்ட மூன்றாம் தொகுதி மருந்துப் பொருட்கள் மே 17 புதன்கிழமை காலை 11:00 மணிக்கு கல்முனை ஆதார வைத்தியசாலைக்கு கையளிக்கப்பட்டது.
கல்முனை ஆதார வைத்தியசாலை. இயக்குனர் மருத்துவர் இரா. முரளீஸ்வரன் தலைமையில் நடைபெற்ற் நிகழ்வில் கனடியத் தமிழர் பேரவையின் பிரதிநிதி மற்றும் மனிதாபிமான திட்டங்களின் இணைப்பாளர் இ.துரைரத்தினம் R துசியந்தன், வைத்தியசாலை நிர்வாக பொறுப்பதிகாரி திரு தேவஅருள் தோமஸ், மற்றும் பல மருத்துவ நிபுணர்கள், மருத்துவமனை வைத்தியர்கள், தாதியர்கள் மற்றும் பணியாளர்கள் என பலரும் கலந்து கொண்டு நிகழ்வினைச் சிறப்பித்தார்கள்.
எதிர்வரும் மாதங்களில் ஏனைய மருத்துவமனைகளுக்குமான நன்கெடைகள் திட்டமிட்டபடி கனடிய தமிழர் பேரவையினால் ஒழுங்கமைக்கப்பட்டு கையளிக்கப்படும்.
Canadian Tamils donate 7 million rupees worth of life saving medicines to the Kalmunai Base Hospital in Amparai District
Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) hosts Tamil Canadian Walk-a-thon every year and proceeds from the walk-a-thon has supported several different charitable causes in the past including the Sick Kids Foundation Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and Holland Bloorview Kids Hospital.
As Sri Lanka continues to suffer from its worst financial slump, hospitals increasingly face a shortage of life-saving medicines. Hospitals and health professionals across the island continue to plead for help through donations to purchase basic life-saving medical supplies. Hospitals across the country struggle to maintain a stock of essential medicine to maintain uninterrupted patient treatment.
This year, the 14th annual Tamil Canadian Walk-a-thon raised funds to provide lifesaving medical supplies to 6 hospitals across Sri Lanka. The first shipment of medicine supplies organized by the CTC was handed over to the Tellipalai Trail Cancer Hospital on December 20th 2022 and the second shipment of medical supplies was handed over to the Batticaloa teaching hospital on April 12, 2023.
Today May 17th 2023, the 3rd shipment of medicine supplies from CTC was handed over to Kalmunai Base Hospital in the Amparai District.
Canadian Tamil Congress Coordinator for Humanitarian Projects in Sri Lanka, Thushyanthan R. Thurairatnam handed over the medicine supplies shipment to Kalmunai Base Hospital Director Dr. Rasaratnam Muraleeswaran. Hospital Administrative Officer Mr. Theva Arul Thomas also spoke at the event and senior hospital officials, doctors, nurses and staff participated at this medicines handover ceremony today.
